Reminders Of Him by Colleen Hoover Storyline
Kenna Rowan has the ability to restart her life from scratch. But she chooses to go back to where everything went wrong. Kenna is an ex-con who spent five years in prison for the manslaughter of her boyfriend, Scotty. She is the mother of a five-year-old daughter. Her only hope and motivation to move on in life. She hasn't seen her daughter since she was released from prison.
Kenna didn't realise she was pregnant until she was sentenced to five years in prison for her crime. Kenna gives her daughter to Scotty's parents involuntarily as soon as she is born, and they officially terminate her parental rights. So she can no longer even demand a simple introduction to her daughter.
Nonetheless She's returned to town to prove to Scotty's parents, that she can be a good mother. She wishes to reconnect with her daughter. However, Scotty's parents, as expected, do not want Kenna near their grandchild. As a result, they imposed a restriction order on her. Making her attempts to meet with her daughter, Diem, more difficult.
Diem has another key adult in her life whom she loves as much as her grandparents, and Ledger does his best to raise her as his best-friend, Scotty, would. But when he was kissing an emotionally weak but amusingly attractive woman he met at his own pub. He had no idea that she was the murderer of his best friend Scotty.
Things would have gone too far between the two of them if Kenna hadn't recognised Ledger's orange truck. That was the final smoke signal for her to leave. Later, a mugshot of Kenna flashed through his mind, and he felt enormous guilt for falling for her when he didn't know her.
Ledger wants Kenna to leave town and get as far away from Diem and Scotty's parents' lives as she can. But there's a draw that both Kenna and Ledger can sense, and it haunts them both. Because if they give in, they will lose everything. As Ledger gets to know Kenna better, his opinion of her shifts. He begins to wonder if he and Scotty's parents have unfairly judged her. They never bothered to listen to her side of the story.
Even so, Ledger is aware that if he gives in to his emotions, Scotty's parents will kick him out of Diem's life. Ledger must choose between Kenna and Diem. Kenna was caught in the same predicament. But if she can't be a part of her daughter's life, she wants Ledger to be.
She arrived in town, broken and battered, to make amends by hugging her daughter. But will she end up even more broken?
Reminders Of Him by Colleen Hoover Book Review
A fast-paced drama about redemption and forgiveness. This story will make you sob uncontrollably. This is the story of a young woman who has lost the love of her life, the only person she can rely on. Now she is fighting an uphill battle with his flocks to be a part of her daughter's life.
Every one of us is a warrior. However, when a woman becomes a mother, her ability to fight the world to protect her child grows exponentially. Nevertheless, because Scotty's parents are good people and Diem is already in good hands, Kenna's fight to barge into their lives begins to feel selfish.
Her selfishness, however, stems from a lack of social life in her past and her inability to turn to someone in the present. It forced her to give Scotty's parents the shock of her existence.
Knowing how difficult it would be for them to see her as the mother of their grandchild rather than the murderer of their own son.
Each character's pain, guilt, and helplessness is gritty and intense. Each character is captivating and sympathetic enough to entice you. Your heart will ache for them, and it will become more difficult to root for one of them because they are all victims of bad decisions and bad situations.
The story is told alternately by Ledger and Kenna, which helps to understand both Scotty's parents' and Ledger's perspectives. The first meeting of Kenna and Ledger shines a bright light on people's behaviour, and how quickly it changes when you learn about someone's past.
Not just Ledger or Scotty's parents, but the entire town has a preconceived notion about Kenna. For them, she is the villain; even those who have never met her have the same opinion of her, and Ledger is at the top of that list. When he saw her in his bar, his heart ached for her. She was a stranger to him, but he desperately wanted to help her. But it all went away when he discovered she was the murderer of his best friend.
Ledger has reasons to dislike Kenna; he lost his best friend because of her, and he witnessed Scotty's parents grieving for their lost son for a long time. And Kenna's arrival in town makes him defensive about the people he cares about the most.
Through Ledger's perspective, you will learn how well his and Scotty's parents' lives are going with Diem. And how things start to go downhill for them mentally, when Kenna is back in town for her daughter.
