My Musings

Woah! Woah! I was up until 4 am to finish this gripping, captivating read in one go. After all, you can't just give chance to an abductor or a killer to just slip away when there is a young man out there in grave danger. And as Pippa says there is no time to waste, because in such cases 72 hours are considered most pivotal in finding the missing person alive, because after that chances are very low that you would find a breathing body in your search.

It was a really tricky and completely awesome idea of the author that she used the idea of a podcast show to tell all the previous stories updates. So now when Pippa's capstone project ended with the last mystery, she made this podcast to reach a bigger audience, and tell us the previous books updates. Because that ended leaving a load of questions in our heads.

Though I felt that in comparison to the previous book in the series, it was a little bit downgraded for me. Just a little bit. Because it didn't have that same intensity and zeal. Even the threat percentage was very low for Pippa in the book except for the climax. One more thing which I didn't like, was the whole charade of clickbait in the course of the story. It seemed to be a really hackneyed idea to me.

Even I missed the togetherness of Pippa and Ravi in most of the chapters, as they were working on different tasks and projects. They were the highlight of the first book, they need to be more together and involved in this too. Last but not least, I really wanted to see some growth in Caras' and Naomi's characters as well. Still, these complaints are nothing in comparison to the pacey-ness and undying mystery which I got to read. That's why 4 stars are dazzling.

Storyline

Pippa wants to reach a bigger audience to tell about the progression of the events and her crime-solving methods via a podcast, and thanks to Ravi-shing Ravi Singh who named the podcast after the book series name. After ending first and most probably her last podcast season. She's sharing the updates on Max Hastings case who drug-raped, several girls at various house party events. Ravi is helping to cover the inside story of the courtroom. Later Pippa in her podcast mini-series updates her interview with Ravi to tell the audience, what are the latest updates on the ongoing case of Max Hastings.

Pippa was all done with her detective career as she wasn't able to handle the trauma and chaos which came with the very first case. And She couldn't deal with the fact that she was the one who destroyed her best friend's life, even if it was all for the righteous thing.

Now she just wants to live a normal young adult life. That's what she promises herself and her family. Though when you mean to be something or do something then you eventually end up doing those things, no matter the outcome, no matter what you promised. The whole town and Pippa herself know that she is made for this.

On the 6th death anniversary of Andie and Sal. A memorial has been conducted and attending it, dragged Pippa in the middle of a new mystery, into the new case of Jamie Reynolds, who was the elder brother of her childhood best friend Connor.

She tried her best to be stone cold and not help her best friend in the investigation. However, when Police have their legit reason to not investigate a Young man's missing case, as it doesn't seem out of character to them.

So, involuntary Pip ends up investigating Jamie Reynold's missing case. And she has a big audience because of a very popular podcast of hers. She started putting the updates of this new case as the next season's episodes.

She digs deep and finds some sinister secrets of the town and Jamie Reynolds. All these secrets are going to throw the whole town into a tremendous Chaos.

It was literally heartbreaking and heart-wrenching to see Pippa breaking down several times. There were a total of three nuclear meltdowns which are going to catch you off-guard in this bullet-paced mystery read.

In a nutshell

This is a book that will make you feel stunned, startled, and speechless during the reading, and at last, when it's about to end, it will make you numb. It is a gripping read from the first to the last page.
